On the 15th of June, a team of 2 chiropractors and 4 chiropractic students headed to The Global Hospital in Mt Abu for the fifth time. This forms part of our initiative to help underserved communities experience high-quality chiropractic care.
This trip to Mt Abu has grown and evolved significantly since its inception in 2023. It now spans two locations: The Global Hospital and our new venture with the local Trauma Centre.
Running two locations, situated one hour apart, simultaneously brought about new and exciting challenges and opportunities, which we did our best to manage. Two teams of three—one led by Dr Christian and one by Dr Ryan—helped deliver over 700 appointments over the six days. This included thermal scanning using the exact same thermography equipment and tables as we use in our UK offices, paired with X-rays of the upper cervical spine to maintain the standard of care we deliver in the UK. The Global Hospital has recently installed a CBCT scanner, which may become more involved once we have developed a referral and analysis system. However, it was used on this trip for the more complex cases, where an X-ray alone was not sufficient.
We were assisted by four chiropractic students who supported the lead chiropractors, gaining invaluable experience at the highest level—an experience that will undoubtedly help shape them into better chiropractors. A big well done to them for all their hard work—it wasn’t an easy task! It was wonderful to see so many new people beginning chiropractic care, and equally heartening to welcome back individuals from our previous four trips who returned to continue their care.
As with many of our trips, we were fortunate to have the support of an incredible helper from the hospital who made our work significantly easier. This time was no exception—we received excellent support in both locations from several staff members who assisted with translation (as we didn’t have Vee with us this time). We were also joined by Poonam from our previous trip, who spent two days with us to help. Coming in on her birthday—we hope we made it a special one!
We’ve also started exploring the possibility of having a permanent member of staff in this location so that the local community can access regular chiropractic care that will continually benefit them. (Don’t worry—none of us are moving to India!)
Our next trip is scheduled for November 2025—fulfilling our original goal of sending a chiropractor every four months to provide sustainable care for the people we serve.
A big thank you goes to all involved:
